31

I have to say thank you to everyone who sent me facebook messages, texts, emails, snapchats, presents, called, etc. etc. for my birthday this year.

It means the world to have so many lovely people who took the time out of their day to wish me well.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

We did a low key birthday this year.
(We are supposed to close on our house Tuesday, so when the Mister asked what I wanted this year, I could only tell him that I wanted a house.)

I really wanted to go to Wildfire for lunch because their chopped salad is AMAZING and they have a really extensive Gluten-free menu.

However, once we got there, we found out they are renovating, and therefore closed during lunch hours until October 1.  Under normal circumstances, this wouldn't be to much of a problem, unless, of course, you have Celiac Disease.

Then it's a HUGE problem.

(If you are ever in Chicago and you have any kind of gluten sensitivities, all Lettuce Entertain You restaurants have great gluten free menus!)

After walking around and grumbling a bit, the Mister said we were going to Joe's.

Not a good start for low key, I know.
But it was fabulous.
And who am I to argue?

 AND I got free desert.
(My ass thanks you, nice people at Joe's.)

We spent the rest of our afternoon checking out the Rebuilding Exchange,
(Not as cool as habitat for humanities in St. Louis,  but still pretty cool)
and thumbing through a few used book and record stores

I was able to find some steals on a few record's.
I love it when that happens.

Then we spent the rest of the evening at the ball park.

Does your Mister keep score while at the game?
Mine does.

And let me tell you......It's the  Cutest.  Thing.  Ever.

And although the Cubbies didn't pull off a win, it was a fabulous way to ring in year #31 in this life.

Thank you again for all the birthday love!  Next time I post, I will no longer be a city dweller...but a crazy forest living suburbanite.

Have a great week, everyone!

It Don't Matter

Normally I write these on Wednesday, but I was kicked out of the house (by the Mister) this past week, and I have been busy being a vagrant with the wee one.

Last week the St. Louis arts community lost a bright and shining star way before his time.

I had been listening to his show every Friday for the past 12 years.

In just a few minutes his friends will help him play his last show, Bob's Scratchy Records, (he's so good,) on KDHX.

So long, Bob.  You will never be forgotten in this little girl's mind.

They/Superhero City

My days are officially filled with packing up a house and all the worries that come with buying your first home.

After all is said and done, and whatever may happen when all of this is all behind us, I am going to pour my Mister and I the stiffest drink possible.  I'm thinking a Gin, party of two, will be in order.

(Some shots of us at our friend's boy's birthday party from this weekend.  It was superhero themed.  And awesome.)

Scaring the Mister into thinking I want another one of these.

NOT!

Clara and her superhero, girl-power friend.

Taunting Clara, telling her we are taking the baby home.
She totally didn't buy it.

Thanks for once again outdoing yourself and throwing a fabulous bash, Breiers!

Happy Humpday!

assault and harassment

So....my landlord has been harassing me and my family since Monday night.

Want to know why?

On Monday our tub had completely stopped draining.
(I blame my sister, Micheala, aka Chewbacca.)

I had called him the night before (Sunday) and let him know about the tub.  He said he would get a plumber.  That was the last  I heard from him.

On Monday night, at 5 pm, he shows up with a random neighbor.  I let them in, the neighbor introduced himself.  Landlord said nothing.

An hour and a half and two trips in and out of my house later, landlord still hasn't said anything to me.  I was having a dinner that night because my family was visiting, so while he was walking out the door again I said

"Hey (landlords name), can you give me a time on when this will be done?"

His response, "It will get done when it gets done."

My response, "Hey, I'm just trying to plan my night."

He walks out.  (It was more of a jerky saunter)

About half an hour later, I am in the kitchen.  He walks in and corners me.  He began berating and yelling at me, telling me how I have a bad attitude and I need to keep it in check.  He told me that he would rather be having dinner then fixing our tub.  He said I was rude for asking for a time on when it would be finished and that fixing the tub was in fact my responsibility.

The Mister heard him yelling at me, came in the kitchen, saw what was going on and told him he needed to leave our house right now.   He started screaming about how this is his property and how he didn't have to leave.  So we threatened to call the cops and he bolted for the door.

Now, a few days later, he has sent us threatening letters with false accusations in them.  He has tried and change the lease to say we owe more money and he spends his days sending me harassing text messages.

I literally feel unsafe in my home.

This is my documentation of how our crazy landlord had verbally assaulted me and is continually harassing me.

If I go missing, look no further than the man upstairs.

(Literally, he lives upstairs.)

Happy Freaking Friday!

Bad Attitude

I was cornered, yelled at, belittled and told I had a "bad attitude" on Monday.

(By someone who hasn't had a chance to enjoy my bad attitude.)

Yet.

Although, this person DID get a chance to see my Mister's bad attitude.

Don't mess with the Mister's girls.

It will never end well for you.

Happy Humpday!

Sugaree

Things I wanted to do today:

Run 3 miles
Swim at least 1 mile
Wedding Crafties
Farmers Market

Things I'm doing instead:

Moping around because of this damn summer cold.

Bummer.

Do you like to eat delicious things, like cake and cookies?

Then you should go visit my sister, Christi, at Sugaree bakery in Dogtown.

She makes the BEST treats in the whole wide world.

(Tell her I say Hi! while you are there!)

Happy Humpday!

Ponies

Well, our apartment has officially been rented and we have a mere 36 days till we close on our house.
(Where's my brown paper bag?????)

So, obviously, when we had an opportunity to either start packing the house OR go bet on the ponies.....we chose the latter.

I'm really glad we did, too.

It was a gorgeous day.

Clara packed a book bag to take along.
This made The Mister very excited and dubbed pony day as
"Daddy School Day".

Clara even had some friends come and join the fun!

The weather was perfect, a little hot in the sun but perfect napping weather in the shade.
I love it when Clara naps on me.  She is constantly go go go go go these days.  Its nice to have little remnants of the baby she once was.

Today I should be packing the house, but I woke up this morning feeling terrible!  I've been dizzy and nauseous all day.  I was the DD this weekend, so its not from playing to hard and I went to bed at 10:30 so it's not from lack of sleep...I don't have time to be sick so I am going to go ahead and rule that out as well.
\
Lets just blame this on it being Monday.

Happy Monday!
