Femme Fatale

Yesterday all three of the girls in our house was sick, present company included.

The Mister didn't have to work, and unfortunately instead of catching up on his day off like he had planned, he instead ran around making tea, soup, fetching tissue, administering meds, etc etc.
He really is the best.

Just in case you missed this post, it has a ton of wonderful ideas for your holiday shopping, and they are all local artists!

Ballad of Fuck All

My back decided to go numb right in the middle the other day for absolutely no reason.  I thought, Hey, that's weird and annoying, and didn't think anything else of it.

Sometimes when people get really stressed out, their bodies do weird things like that.

Then today I woke up and couldn't walk.

This just won't do.

Tomorrow is Halloween,
Friday Rhiannon is having a bonfire
and Saturday the Mister is having some stupid man-party.

My back needs to cut it out.
Now.

On Saturday our neighbors threw a huge Halloween party.  Every neighbor on the block was there and we were meeting them all at the same time.

I went as this.

The Mister was super embarrassed of me.
(He did not dress up.  I told him I was going to tell everyone that he was going as a "Stick in the Mud".)
BUT.....I won the best costume award.
(TAKE THAT stupid stick in the mud Mister,)

They had THE BIGGEST bonfire I'd ever seen.

We learned that our neighbors really like :

Guns
Drinking
the Blackhawks

We have one thing in common.
I will let you figure out what it is.

AND my makeup held up really well!  I thought for sure I'd look like a hot mess by the end of the night.....especially since I had a ridiculous amount of tequila.

(This is seriously what nightmares are made of.)

 Happy Humpday.

Sugaree

Things I wanted to do today:

Run 3 miles
Swim at least 1 mile
Wedding Crafties
Farmers Market

Things I'm doing instead:

Moping around because of this damn summer cold.

Bummer.

Do you like to eat delicious things, like cake and cookies?

Then you should go visit my sister, Christi, at Sugaree bakery in Dogtown.

She makes the BEST treats in the whole wide world.

(Tell her I say Hi! while you are there!)

Snuggles

It finally feels like spring outside!

Clara is having her first bout of (non-life threatening) sickness in her life.
Croupy cold and fevers all around the block!

So while we snuggle, I will leave you with a song that always makes me think of spring and cruising the backwoods in Carbondale, finding baby lamb farms and watching the world turn green and explode with all the wildflowers......Come on warm weather!  Keep it up!

Postcards / A Sunday Smile

I've had a sick kid at home the past two days, and it is all the same to me.  There are some kids at school that have been saying some pretty horrible things about her and to be quite honest, I would rather have her home with me.

I know they are just kids......but nobody should be made to feel like how they have made her feel lately.  I think I'm over with dealing with the over privileged and entitled rich kids.  I don't mind being snubbed by the folks at school functions.   I do mind when it happens to Rhiannon.

I think it might be time to move back with the hippies.

Yesterday it started sleeting/snowing right after Clara's tumbling class, which ended at 10 A.M.  Every time I looked out the window since then it was coming down harder and faster then before.  While Rhiannon slept away her chest cold, Clara and I dug deep into the art cabinet and found some of my old stamps.

You know how writing letters is, unfortunately, a lost art?

Well, so is homemade postcards.

However this is a fantastic activity for toddlers to do.  It will definitely put a smile on whomever's face receives it AND your wee one just might get something back.

Have you ever seen a toddler/preschooler receive mail?

It's better then Christmas

All it takes is some scrap construction paper and stamps.

Instant!  Afternoon!  Fun!

(We can't forget daddy!  I think he has so many paintings he could wallpaper his entire office with them!)

Finally when the outside world didn't look like such a white out, we trekked across the street to improve our snow man.  The new Snowman is about 6 foot tall now.  All that snow was PERFECT packing snow!

Have I ever told you how much I love Beirut?

Seriously.  Instant, beautiful, pure happiness.

And he is just so fucking cute.

Enjoy.

Happy Hump day!
